Mindset Coaching
Your actions are the result of many small and continuous calculations. Sometimes, our actions may be premeditated. Other times, they may seem a bit random. With Mindset Coaching, we aim to reduce randomness without eliminating fun and spontaneity. We need to take actions that are in coherence with our path, and which do not cause harm to ourselves or others. With the correct thinking, this is achievable.
Actions beget outcomes. Sometimes we get the outcomes we predicted, sometimes we don’t. In either case, we are left to think about the actions that we have taken. We can learn from our mistakes, and try new approaches. However, if this thinking is not kept in check and unproductive, it becomes “rumination”, which is one of the hallmarks of depression and anxiety. I have honed my face-to-face consultation and listening skills by working at SHA Wellness Clinic. There, I have given many, many successful and insightful one-to-one holistic health sessions. Time and again, my guests say things like “I don’t usually tell this to anyone” or, “I can’t believe I am saying this”.
I seem to possess a quality that allows people to talk honestly. I am a good listener, I have an innate gift, but more than anything, I have been doing this for a long time. In the therapy world, we call it “holding space”. I think that there is something more to it than that. Some of us are blessed with infallible intuition and a very strong ability to read other people. I have this.
This gift was more like a curse when I was younger. It was wildly confusing and I suffered a lot because I, simply pick up other people’s stuff. Later, through the slow and steady practice of yoga and related energy medicine modalities, I made this gift work for me and not against me. In Altea
Of course, if you’re in Altea and would like to have mindset coaching, breathwork, or guided meditation in person, just go ahead and make a booking. My consulting room is lovely and warm, and very easy to find.
Online consultations can be via Zoom, Skype, or Facebook Messenger. I don’t really mind, it’s up to you. You have to set aside an hour of your time when things are quiet and you can concentrate.
Breathwork and Pranayama
Breathing, though, is easily taught in online consultations and gives such a wonderful and immediate feeling of peace and well-being. Correct breathing is a skill that you carry with you literally everywhere you go. When you heal the breath, you heal your life. Pain management becomes easier, sleep issues resolve, the anxiety subsides, and feelings of joy and tranquility become more and more familiar.
Because I have worked with the breath for so many years, I am very good a picking up little breathing tics and undesirable breathing habits. Even via video, a trained eye can detect this. In a non-judgmental way, we can modify these habits to slow, deepen and calm the breath.
A bit about my own breathing journey.
From childhood, I faced numerous breathing challenges. I was born with my umbilical cord around my neck and was a bald, blue, and clingy baby. It took me decades to work out that my head was always tilted, my jaw incredibly tense and my tongue constantly thrusting up into the roof of my mouth.
Adding insult to injury, I developed a slew of allergies – pollen, grass, trees, dust mites, ragweed, mold – that were heavily medicated but never cured by doctors. By my twenties, I was seriously fighting constant irritation, breathlessness, and mouth breathing. I felt lucky that I had escaped asthma that both my mother and my brother had. To be honest, those allergies were what led me to study Nutritional Therapy, Manual Lymphatic Drainage massage, and, later, yoga.
I can honestly tell you, with my hand on my heart, that I have now definitively fixed both my allergies and my disordered breathing using natural therapies and a holistic approach. If you think that I could help you, but you’re not in the Altea, then online consultations might be the best option.
